Think you have what it takes to be the next great MC? Well, now’s your chance to prove it. MTV News’ own Sway Calloway announced Monday (September 29) that he and Crooked I will work together for the first-of-its-kind rap competition series, “One Shot.”
Taking turns at the mic, six aspiring MCs spit their best rhymes in front of a panel of judges while cameras rolled inside SET Nightclub on Lincoln Road. Each has only one thing in mind: a $100,000 cash prize and a record deal with SMH Records.
Frigid temperatures didn’t discourage droves of music artists from lining up outdoors Friday morning for the chance compete on a potential hip-hop reality TV show. They stood in a line that stretched for three blocks outside the Hard Rock Hotel at 230 N. Michigan Ave.
Thousands of rappers lined up to audition for ‘One Shot,’ which is a new hip-hop reality show . “I’m starting to spark some tension, because I think I’m the best so far from the rest, they’re starting to say that I’m missing,” artist Domarama said.
Earlier this Fall, rapper KXNG CROOKED (aka Crooked I) announced on Sway In the Morning that he’d be delivering a hip-hop competition series in 2015. Titled “One Shot,” the show will follow Crooked as he travels to eight cities across the United States.
The countdown begins as one of Rap’s first reality competition shows ever prepares to hit television, and with it comes an A-list lineup of Hip-Hop’s finest. Earlier this Fall, rapper/mogul KXNG CROOKED (bka Crooked I) announced on Sway In the Morning.
Complex has announced that Crooked I’s new reality series called One Shot, which he talked about on Sway In The Morning earlier this year, will be going cross-country on the hunt for the next upcoming rapper.
Change is always necessary. Evolution is necessary. If I’m still expressing myself musically ten years from now whatever I create will sound nothing like 2014 KXNG CROOKED. Some fans wonder if I’m on some typical egomaniac rapper shit with the name change.
Sway and Crooked I announced their partnership — along with DJ King Tech and SMH Records CEO Mike Smith — on Monday (Sept. 29) during ‘Sway in the Morning’ on Sirius XM. “This right here is to provide a platform for hip-hop, for us,” the Slaughterhouse MC told listeners.
Slaughterhouse rapper Crooked I, radio/TV host Sway Calloway, and The Wake Up Show‘s DJ King Tech are joining forces to present a rap competition series known as One Shot. The three announced the new show on Calloway’s Sway in the Morning Shade 45 radio program.
